Primary 2/3

Dear Parent/Carer,

Primary 2/3 have settled well into this new session. They are trying very hard to be good listeners and to follow instructions first time.

Their first topic this term will be ‘Fairyland’. The children will have the opportunity to read a variety of fairy tales, create artwork, write letters, take part in discussions, role play and create their own puppets and perform their own puppet show. We will end our topic with a ‘Fairyland’ party where they can dress up as their favourite fairy tale character, if they so wish.

In Literacy the children will continue to read and write during their Learning to Read time. We will also be focusing on spelling common words, nouns, adjectives and verbs.

In Numeracy the children will be focusing on addition and subtraction, counting forwards and backwards, numbers before, after and between. The children have a numeracy map in their diary bags so please encourage your child to use this at home to support their learning in class.

Home Learning tasks will be set every 4 weeks. The homework grid provides all the information you need to help your child complete their tasks. New reading books will normally be handed out on a Monday. Please encourage your child to read every night. Please ensure your child brings their Home Learning bag to school with them every day. Every child has also been provided with a pupil diary. If you write a note in their diary, please ask your child to hand this to me first thing in the morning.

Health and Wellbeing lessons we will be focusing on building positive relationships. We will be focusing on using our cool responses in tricky situations.

The children will also be building upon their previous knowledge of the French language. This term we will also be learning days of the week.

Gym days are again Tuesday and Thursday, please ensure your child has their full gym kit on those days.

The children are allowed to drink water in class therefore please can they bring in a water bottle.
