Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you had a pleasant summer. It’s good to be back and we’re looking forward to a very productive school year. I will be teaching your child twice a week, focusing on Health & Wellbeing.


Early Level                              PE (in the gym hall/outdoors) – Core movement skills.

(P1)                                         Spatial awareness, object control, balance & coordination, motor skills, rotation, postural control

Health & Wellbeing (in class) – Developing awareness of how our bodies work and how to stay fit and healthy.



First level                                PE (in the gym hall/outdoors) – Developing movement skills –control and confidence.  

(P2-4)                                      Developmental athletics and outdoor activities.

                                                Health & Wellbeing (in class) – Importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.




Second level                           PE (in the gym hall/outdoors) – Athletics (track & field, cross country)

                                                Outdoor activities (orienteering)

(P5-7)                                      Health & Wellbeing (in class) - Develop understanding of the body and use this knowledge to maintain and improve my wellbeing and health.



PE days are Tuesday and Thursday for all classes. Please can you check that your child has a full gym kit in school e.g. plain white or blue t-shirt, dark shorts and indoor gym shoes. For safety, all jewellery should be removed (tape can be provided for earrings that cannot be taken out) and long hair tied up. It would be helpful if younger children could wear a polo shirt on gym days as shirts and ties can be time consuming to get on and off.
